Blind Side Theme

    This book is called the Blind Side. This book has a lot of segregation and racism and things like that. 

When Leigh Anne and Shawn gave Michael Oher a home Because he has been bouncing around houses but they didn’t let him stay long but they did. They put him in school and in football and they treated him like actual family. They lived in Memphis, Tennessee. One time, the first time Leigh Anna brought Michael to A school basketball game and they went and sat down and a lot of the white people in the crowd started yelling at Michael and saying he`s a bad person and started calling him a bunch of swears and people were calling him the “N” word and they were telling him to leave and never come back.  And its not just going on at the basketball game.

       I think the people are racist because they were calling him the “N” word whenever they saw him and that’s why I think some of the people there are racist

   People would tell Leigh Anna to get rid of Michael and why is he with you and they would say bad stuff about him, but Leigh Anna and Shawn would always stick up for him.

     
   When he was at school some of the kids would call him names, when he went to sporting events, stores and all that kind of stuff they would always say mean stuff to him and he never deserves it.

     Another story that relates with The Blind Side is Black and white. It`s mainly about racism and segregation.

What Michael Oher did was take all that bad stuff that everyone would say to him in and make it a motivation for him, so then whenever someone said mean things to him he would get angry and he would play with all intensity, anger and power.

Michael Oher is a lineman number #74 for the Baltimore Ravens.

I think 10 years down the line Michael Oher will be inducted into the hall of fame for a guy that plays Offensive Tackle, Offensive Lineman, and a Guard, for the Ravens. He has played and started every game in his NFL career. Michael Oher is a hard workng player for the Baltimore Ravens because he keeps guys away from the quarterback and he is a very big and very strong guy.

I would say he is one of the best top offensive players in the NFL. He is hard working and doesn’t stop going hard until the whistle is blown. For a guy that’s 6`4 315lbs he is really quick and strong. 

Michael Jordan

Author's Note:  This essay is about Michael Jordan.  I wrote this to explain how he became a legend (character development).

Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player of all time is a very good player and person. He set out a dream and chased for it and he would stop until he got it. He plays basketball for his high school team, a lot of the fans and teammates say he defined the law of gravity because whenever he would go up for a dunk it would look like he would just float in mid- air, he had monster hops. Michael Jordan thought for a little while that if he was so good at basketball that he wouldn’t have to really pay attention in school. His dad told him that if he didn’t do his work that he shouldn’t even play basket ball and that he should do something else that he will actually do good in life with, pretty much he was saying that he should get his hopes up this much because he doesn’t want him to get his dreams crushed.

Michael started paying attention in school and started doing all his work and then after awhile he started getting straight A`s. After High School he got lots of full scholarships to all different schools and that made him feel very special. Mainly he wanted to go to one of his home teams either Carolina state or the North Carolina Tar Heels. After awhile he decided to take North Carolina Tar Heels and made a great choice. He went on to the team as a freshman and was already one of the best on the team. He played Guard and was at least the 1^st or 2nd on the team in overall in points, shooting, and dunks. After the first season one of the best players on the team when Michael became a sophomore so Michael had all the weight on his shoulders for this team.

Michael averages a solid 30 points a game. He is an all around player and is good for the team. His parents are very proud of him and all the accomplishments he has been having.

After his 4 years of basketball he gets picked in the first round by the Chicago Bulls and 2 years into the NBA he became the best player in the league and a legend and they still say that till this day.

Patriot`s Pen

I am very happy that we have freedom and we are because of our soldiers. They have fought for us for a very long time and I am grateful that they have been keeping us safe. They put their own life at risk to save ours and that is a nice and good thing to do.

I feel like we should have more days were we can thank them for all they have done for us and still doing. For all of the solders and patriots who have passed away and still living I thank you dearly, it means a lot to me that I know I can be safe from people that you fight to keep us out of harm’s way. I respect all of the patriots that are still with us and are fighting for us right now.

I had a grandpa and an uncle and a cousin that went into the war and fought for our country. My Grandpa always tells me story`s about him in the Vietnam. I have always looked up to him as a hero and as a grandfather, I also look up to everyone and hope maybe someday I can do something that god for people to thank me and look up to me like I do for all the veterans. When I was in 5^th grade for veterans day my grandpa came in and I thought it was really cool.

I thank the people who fought for our country and I am happy that I am in such a great place for the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

The Greatest

Conflict

Muhammad Ali was a small kid growing up, some kids bullied him because he was small but he also had a lot of bigger friends that stuck up for him. But Muhammad go sick of all of it and wanted to stick up for himself. Muhammad got a new bike when he was 12 years old and somebody stole it. He was poor growing up and that  bike meant a lot to him. He was very mad and told the his friend that he was going to beat up whoever took it.

Resolution  

He was so mad that he just wouldn’t stop working out and he got a trainer to help him because he didn’t know a lot of the stuff that he was doing. He went to the gym almost every day and after a couple of months he started seeing nice results and he also did boxing while he was at the gym, so now he could fight and he was ripped and not so many kids messed with him anymore. 

Tiki and Ronde barber

Cause

As kids tiki and ronde loved to play football and they were very good at it. They were the stars of the team and those two scored all the teams touchdowns.  But their grades were falling and they couldn’t play anymore in the big game.

Effect

Since they weren’t there they lost the game and a lot of the teammates were very upset with them. If I could change one thing in the story I would of wanted them to of kept up with their homework so they could`ve played.

Prince Fielders Bowling Benefit

My grandma, Irene Bolton, works at the brewers stadium and is a very important worker.  She has been there for over 30 years and now runs the Brewers Buddies Program and Season Ticket Holder Luncheon.  She meet a lot of the old and new. She met Bob Ucker and got to go to his house with some other workers and had dinner and I think that’s pretty cool.  He also made a tribute to my grandpa when he died during a game.

There was an event that Prince Fielder made where they bowled and raised money for youth sports. My grandma bowled with some workers and the brewers, I got to go as her guest and when I found out I could go I was very excited. I brought my camera and so I could take pictures with them.  We were in the VIP section!  I met Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, Cameron Loul, Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy and many more.  I got pictures with all of them and I got to hang out with them for awhile too.  It was an awesome time.

 I am a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and this is just one of the many things I have experienced having a grandma that works for the Brewers.

SLAM!

Conflict

The book I read is called SLAM! Its about a teenage high school boy who loves basketball. He dedicates almost all of his time to play it, and that’s the problem. He doesn’t do his homework and if failing a lot of his classes. It’s the end of the year and everything is well until the principal came up to him and told him he is going to fail the 10^th grade unless he takes summer school and he wont be able to play next year if he gets held back.

Resolution 

He finally realized that he needs to step it up and cut out time of playing basketball and more time doing homework and that’s what he did. He past the 10^th grade and is doing much better in basketball and in school.

Baseball

Authors note: I have always loved baseball, ever since i was a kid. It has always been one of my favorites. I go to brewers games all the time. I usually play sort stop, catcher, pitcher, or 2nd base. in baseball all the positions are pitcher, catcher, 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, sort stop, right field, left field, and center field

Authors note: basketball is a very fun sport. Try it you may be very good at it.

Basketball is a very fun sport. You get a ball and try to make it into the 10ft hoop. All the positions are the point guard (which is the smallest but fastest person on the court) but remember they always have the ball so they have to have good ball handling. You also got the shooting forward, and the shooting guard ( pretty much the best shooters on the team). Then you have the power forward and the center (the 2 tallest people on the court).

Football

Authors note: football is Americas greatest sport, everyone loves to watch it.

Football is a very fun sport, very aggressive and physical. I like playing football because i like to pull out all my anger out on somebody. It makes me feel a lot better.

Baseball

 Authors note: baseball fields are very historic and fun. Baseball fields are a great place to go as a kid because of the happy and fun times it is when u go their.

The baseball stadium I chose was the AT&T park "Giants". The reason i chose this team is because is because of the creativity and how cool the the stadium is. In center field there is a GIANT glove and when the baseball player hit it in to the giant glove they will do special things like give out free hot dogs or free baseball cards or something like that that is fun for the audience and fans. Out in right field over there is a river and whenever a player hits it out in to the river they call it the splish splash area and its fun for the fans to watch.

The Outside Shot

An African American boy named Lonnie Jackson who was born and raised in Harlam, New York playing basketball his whole life and got very good at it. His dream was always to make it to the NBA. He wanted a full scholarship for basketball to a good high school basketball team mostly because if he played good in those games as he was in college scouts would check him out and coaches would want him on their team and his dream would come true.

Once he got older he became better and better at basketball, he got a full scholarship to Montclare, Indiana were he got to be on the basketball team. He took a flight from New York to Indiana, the school paid for his flight and everything. When he got off the plane he was escorted from the assistant coach and the coach took him to the car and brought him to the school and showed him to his dorm.  

He shared a dorm with 3 guys on the basketball team. Their names were Sly, Calvin, and Juice. They greeted Lonnie in a nice way and made him feel comfortable. They told him all about the basketball team how everything worked, and all about the classes and how tough the coaches are so he would be prepared for everything that  was going on.

Alaska Oil Drill

I think we should not drill for oil in Alaska because there is a lot of living substance in Alaska and if you drill for oil it would put lots of animals in danger. And possibly endangered and that is not a good thing because there is a lot of natural wildlife in Alaska, And what if you went and drilled for oil and you didn’t find anything, imagine how bad all that would be. You would have just killed plants and endangered and or killed animals for no good reason.

To drill oil in Alaska would take lots of hard work and it would coast lots of money, so much money that it may not even be worth it.  I think it would be best if we didn’t drill for oil, although someone is going to go drill for it so they can be rich and that person probably doesn’t care about the wildlife or anything that’s in that area of where they are going to drill.

The only reason it would be good to drill in Alaska is for the money. It would save us a lot of money

SLAM!

Authors note:  If you really like a sport and you want to play it you have to keep your grades up. Remember grades come first.

Slam!

My book is about a boy who loves everything about basketball and plays it all year round with his buddy “ice”. But lately Slam`s grades are not so good, so now he has to try to pick his grades up in order to be on   the basketball team. If his grades are bad and he flunks all his classes he will be kick off the basketball team until further notice.

 Ice is very good at basketball, and so is Slam to but not as good as his buddy Ice, he`s so good he has scouts coming in from everywhere to come watch him play. Everyone is saying that Slam has more game then Ice but Slam doesn’t believe it. Ice has been up to no good, he`s been hanging out with the wrong people and he`s been doing bad things and it`s not good for him or anyone else for him to be not healthy and in bad shape.

 It can ruin his future of being in the NBA, and no one wants to see that happen to him. Ice is pretty much throwing his future, his career and his life away by doing this. Slam has been worrying about him and now Slam is going to figure out something on how to get Ice back to being the better student and human being that he really is. All Slam is trying to do is help his best friend ice get back to his grades, basketball, and his life so he can have a bright future.  

The Hero

Author`s note: Hero`s are role models to us kids and an insperation to adults.

A hero is a role model to kids, and an influence to other grownups (friends, family).Hero`s do these thing because they want the world to be a better place, and they risk their life to save others. The world needs hero`s so they can be good influences and then other people will start catching on to be doing good things.

And sooner or later everyone with be hero`s and the world will be a better place thanks to that one hero who started it all. The world would be such a better place if everyone was a hero and everyone cares for that persons life more than their own. To put your life on the line for other peoples safety takes a lot of courage and bravery.

Im going to point a few heros out. “Wells Crowther” he saved over a hundred people in the 911 terrorist attack on the twin towers. He went up and lead people down the emergency stair case, He took about 10 trips up and down the building to help the people that did not know where to go or what to do. “Soldiers” they help fight for our country to keep us safe and not have to worry about if we will be in danger throughout the night. Soldiers are very brave and hardworking people, They have enough courage to go out on the other side of the world and fight for our rights and our safety. Soldiers never give up no matter how bad the war gets, they go through it and stick with the plan that was started. Soldiers are heros to me as well. I look up to them as my role model and so should everyone else.

Boxing

Authors note: Boxing takes a lot of energy and power. Its a painful sport but it only makes you stronger

Boxing is an intense sport. all it is, is one on one. Just you and another guy that wants to hurt you. If you lose you have no one else to blame but yourself. Boxing takes lots of power, strength and good reaction time. The last thing you want to do in the middle of a boxing match is to put your guard down and and you don`t want to hesitate to things, like i said before you have to have good reaction time so you can react to different moves. if you really slow i would not recommend boxing for you but go ahead and try it anyways.

Baseball

Authors note: Baseball is a great sport, very active and an exciting sport. I remember my first time playing it,i grantee you`ll like it when you try it.

   Baseball is a very fun sport. It takes lots of speed and good reaction time to be really good at baseball. im ok so far for my age, but i`ve been playing since i was like 4 or 5.

Authors note :Basketball: basketball is a very fun sport. so before you judge it and say its bad, try it out. i grantee you`ll like it.

Basketball has many fun features. It is a very fun sport. its in my top 2 favorites. i recommend you trying it, you`ll have a lot of fun with it. It takes a lot of hard work and lots of practice to be really good at basketball. I`ve been playing for a while and it all pretty much paid off for me. so when you have the time go out get a basketball, go to the park and play. U`ll have fun.

snow

snow is a wonderful thing. some other places don`t get snow, some don`t even know what snow is. So enjoy it while you can and go have a snowball war
